They have less components than computer motherboards which are very cheap.

Angel has it exactly right. The PCBs are specific to each manufacturer/model of boiler. The manufacturer therefore has a captive market and can charge what they like as you can’t get the part anywhere else. It’s called having a supply monopoly.

‘They’ will try to feed us the economies of scale bs
(cost/unit reduction as unit production increases)
but
we all know it’s just another international conspiracy…

The price will be what the market will bear.

If your PCB board fails in your boiler it is very very important to you to get the boiler working again. If your PC boards fails it matter not that you can wait for days and get a good price. It is the same with so many things that spares are sometimes more expensive that the original purchase. Companies make the big money on spares. For example a spring failed on my Dyson cleaner. The cost of producing the spring and the labour involved would be about 20 pence. The price to buy it direct from Dyson was, wait for it, a whopping £15.00.

The manufacturers know they have got you by the short and curlys so charge what they want.
